LTE FTW
0Tomorrow, December 1, Verizon will hold a press release about their LTE network. I look forward to the day when there is one true global standard for mobile communications. I’m sure dreams of seeing GSM as a national standard (over CDMA) will meet the same fate as using the metric system but this is a step in the right direction. Now, if we can only set pre-loading restrictions on the network providers… wouldn’t it be great if every handheld device were free of “value added” junkware?
Hello IOS 4.2
0Nice job Apple! The features of 4.2 on the iPad are very welcome! I frequently try (and never remove them until I deem them completely useless) various productivity and note taking applications. Now, having “folders,” I’ve successfully organized 7 pages of apps into 3 pages using 5 groups for keeping things together. I have to admit though that Apple IOS multi-tasking feels more like a list of recently used items. The media applications (Pandora) that run in the background process are truly a nice touch, but that long list of programs I’ve once had open does not compare to the fluid feel that webOS provides. If I were to consider multi-tasking as actually doing two things at the same time, what would be really cool is a split screen on the iPad. Since iPod/iPhone applications have a scaling dilemma on the iPad, wouldn’t it be cool to have two of those open at the same time? And, oh, by the way, count me in on the petitions; I miss the hardware screen-rotation lock.
